Advancing God’s Kingdom: The Tennessee Christian Chamber of Commerce Connects Faith and Business
A 16-year legacy of integrating biblical principles into the Tennessee marketplace
In a world where business and faith are often kept in separate silos, the Tennessee Christian Chamber of Commerce (TNCCC) has spent the better part of two decades building something different. Founded in 2008 by Celeste LaReau, the organization has grown into a statewide movement connecting Christian leaders, business professionals, and entrepreneurs who believe that marketplace excellence and spiritual integrity can—and should—go hand in hand.
Nothing Was Wasted — Celeste LaReau on Calling, Kingdom Connection, and Becoming the “Poster Child” for Christian Chambers
According to the organization’s leadership, their mission is straightforward and bold: To advance God’s Kingdom through the marketplace by equipping Tennessee Christian leaders, businesses, and professionals to connect, grow, and serve.” It’s more than a business networking group. It’s a faith-based ecosystem where biblical ethics aren’t an afterthought—they’re the foundation.
From Vision to Marketplace Reality
The organization’s vision captures that integration well: “We are building a statewide movement and community where faith, excellence, and God’s Kingdom invoke transformation in the Tennessee marketplace. That vision has translated into tangible growth over the past 16 years. From humble Power Lunch beginnings in 2009 to hosting large-scale luncheons, annual recognition banquets, and community impact awards, TNCCC has built infrastructure for Christian professionals to not just network—but to lead with integrity.
The organization has expanded beyond single-event forums. Today, members benefit from weekly Chamber Connect meetings and luncheons held at various locations throughout the state. The marquee event—the monthly Chamber Luncheon—takes place on the third Tuesday of each month, featuring guest speakers, professional development, and genuine relationship-building around shared values. Beyond that rhythm, TNCCC offers sponsorship opportunities, business development resources, and a mobile app designed to keep members connected, informed, and engaged.
A Timeline of Growth and Leadership
Looking back at the organization’s evolution shows not just numerical growth, but deepening mission. Leadership has shifted hands thoughtfully. Ralph Vaughn served as President, followed by Chris Whitney and later President Kevin Anderson—each bringing their own emphasis to the work of integrating faith and business. The organization has hosted keynotes by respected voices like Mark Whitacre and held recognition banquets celebrating member achievement. By 2019, Kathy Truitt was brought on as CEO, and the organization launched its Connecting Mid-Tennessee Vision 2030 Strategy. Most recently, TNCCC expanded its reach by launching the Chattanooga TNCCC Branch and establishing partnerships with Brentwood Baptist Church.
Kathy Truitt: Leadership Rooted in Service
Kathy Truitt’s path to leading TNCCC is itself a
testament to the organization’s values. After 18 years as a Retail Sales Manager and District Manager, she made a deliberate choice to step back from the traditional corporate ladder and focus on raising her son Jake. During those years, she was introduced to the Tennessee Christian Chamber of Commerce and became a supporting member in 2010. Her passion for the organization’s mission grew steadily. She served in various roles—Chamber Ambassador, Membership Director, Public Relations, and Board Member—before being asked to lead as CEO.
I have a true passion for serving others and building relationships, Truitt has shared. I’m motivated and inspired by being around people, so I’m always pleased to make new connections.
That relational focus drives her leadership. Truitt is reachable, responsive, and genuinely interested in seeing members—and the Kingdom—advance. For those curious about membership, sponsorships, or simply learning more, she invites connection: ktruitt@tnchristianchamber.org .
Faith, Business, and Kingdom Impact
What makes TNCCC distinctive is its holistic approach. It’s not just about quarterly results or networking for networking’s sake. The organization is intentional about nurturing business relationships grounded in Christian principles. Members are encouraged to operate with moral and ethical standards aligned with biblical teaching. The broader vision extends beyond financial growth to personal development, spiritual enrichment, and what the organization calls — Godly wisdom.
As a holistic Christian organization, we encourage not just business growth but personal development as well, the organization’s statement of values explains. Our broader vision is to create an environment that fosters Godly wisdom, biblical ethics, and spiritual enrichment, influencing the business world positively. We welcome members to utilize their business as a platform for spreading love, integrity, and Christ-like values, contributing to society’s positive transformation.
