I loved the story I saw this morning on WTVF News Channel 5. A Tennessee couple, John Carroll (101) and Jerry Carroll (100), just celebrated 80 years of marriage. Every Friday morning, they still keep up a decades-old tradition: breakfast with friends at McDonald’s.
It’s a small ritual, but it says everything about a life built together.
Stories like this inspire us and remind us that truth still matters. While much of the mainstream media, including WTVF’s Phil Williams, often thrives on division, chaos, and outrage for clicks and profit, stories like the one above show why positive news—like an 80-year marriage—deserves attention. Even Washington Post reporter Radley Balko once called Phil Williams “one of the greatest journalists” for his work exposing civil asset forfeiture, where agencies can seize money from citizens without filing charges. It is a powerful example of real accountability on a core issue of freedom and liberty.
