Bigfoot in Tennessee: Legends, Sightings, and Mysterious Encounters
We’ve all heard the stories of Bigfoot tales of a towering, elusive creature roaming the backwoods of America. But for my wife’s great-grandfather, PaPa Moore, the legend wasn’t just a story; it was real.
Living in a small trailer outside of Parsons, Tennessee, PaPa Moore swore he had seen Bigfoot in the distance, deep in the woods. Whether you believe in the creature or not, reports of sightings continue to pour in from across Tennessee, adding to the mystery that has fascinated believers and skeptics alike for generations.
Here are some of the most notable Bigfoot sightings in Tennessee:
Monroe County (October 2024): A camper near the Tennessee-North Carolina border, southeast of Tellico Plains, reported seeing a mysterious face peering at him from a ravine.
Lincoln County (April 2023): A resident in the Elk River/Dellrose area claimed to have seen large, greenish eyes staring through a window at 3 AM, accompanied by other unexplained activity.
Lawrence County (June 2021): Multiple witnesses described a close-range encounter with an unknown creature approximately three miles west of Lawrenceburg.
Columbia (Spring 1979): A man along the Duck River recounted a chilling face-to-face experience with a Bigfoot-like figure.
Monteagle Mountain (Spring 1968): Brenda Ann Adkins reported a 7-foot-tall, foul-smelling creature approaching within six feet of her before silently retreating into the woods.
With sightings spanning decades and locations across the state, the question remains: Is Bigfoot merely folklore, or is there something lurking in Tennessee’s wilderness? As these stories continue to surface, the legend of Bigfoot refuses to fade.

Yeahoh, Yahoo or Bigfoot
The legend of the Hillbilly Beast This Bigfoot-like creature resides in the foothills of eastern Kentucky, is huge and hairy, smells horrid, glides when it runs and has yellow eyes and a ferocious howl. Reports of this terrifying monster date back to the days of Daniel Boone, but increasing encounters provided enough interest that History Channel’s MonsterQuest featured the Hillbilly Beast in an episode aired in their fourth season.

The Hillbilly Beast quietly stalks and roams the back hills of Eastern Kentucky, near the Ohio River. This large and intimidating creature has called this land home, long before settlers moved into the neighborhood.
As years became decades ,….and decades became centuries,……the human population exploded creating a strange situation for the man-beast.

Humans continually move further out into virgin and unspoiled territory, thus they are now coming face to face with the other being,….. that calls this land home.
