Sizzling Skies & Cajun Flavors: WKRN’s Danielle Breezy Brings the Backyard BBQ Forecast to Smyrna
“Look, there’s Happy and Lisa!” said my wife, Felicia, after seeing WKRN News 2 Chief Meteorologist Danielle Breezy.
The familiar aroma of seasoned seafood and smoky spices filled the air in Rutherford County as WKRN News 2 Chief Meteorologist Danielle Breezy took her signature Backyard BBQ Forecast live on the road to Avondale Drive in Smyrna. If I stood on my front porch I bet I could year the party and Happy saying “Where’s my Tabasco sauce?”

Felicia and I have known Happy and Lisa Bringier for over 30 years. Happy and I were hired in together at Nissan and worked on the same Altima line in trim and chassis. We even rotated doing the same jobs. Happy was always great to work with. I always remember Happy being a tremendous athlete. No matter the sport, he was highly competitive. It was funny when he and the other guys in our group played ping pong and how competitive the game was. When Happy would slam on folks — which was a frequent occurrence — he would yell, “No, go get it!” His opponent would have to do the walk of shame and go sometimes 100 feet to retrieve the ping pong ball. I had to do the walk a few times. Unfortunately, I was terrible at ping pong.

Backyard BBQ
Bringing television weather reporting out of the studio and into the heart of Middle Tennessee, Breezy joined local hosts Lisa and Happy for a community gathering centered around good food, warm hospitality, and the regional weather outlook.

A Cajun Feast in Rutherford County
While traditional Tennessee gatherings often feature pulled pork or slow-cooked ribs, Smyrna served up a Louisiana-style twist. The centerpiece of the evening was a full Cajun seafood boil overflowing with king crab legs, boiled shrimp, smoked sausage, sweet corn, potatoes, and broccoli.

”We gave everyone a lil Cajun culture in our backyard! Such a fun night I’ll never forget,” said host Lisa Bringier.

“We sit back here with our swamp bucket and boil crabs… but when everyone shows up—friends, church family, gym buddies, old coaches, and principals—it becomes a real community celebration.”
— Happy, Smyrna Backyard BBQ host

The gathering brought together neighbors from across Smyrna and surrounding Rutherford County towns, blending Gulf Coast flavors with Middle Tennessee community spirit.
