Nissan to sell South Africa plant to China’s Chery

TOKYO — Nissan will sell its manufacturing assets in Rosslyn, South Africa.


The local arm of China’s Chery is purchasing it for an undisclosed sum—deepening Chinese automakers’ footprint in the country’s auto sector.

The 2026 Nissan Navara is a redesigned mid-size pickup (D23/D27) blending rugged, 80s-inspired styling with modern technology, featuring a 150 kW/470 Nm 2.4L twin-turbo diesel engine and 3.5-ton towing capacity. Available mainly in double-cab, it offers a 9-inch infotainment screen, advanced driver-assistance systems, and improved off-road capability with seven drive modes.
