Rick Hall Announces Reelection Bid for Rutherford County Commissioner District 3

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WGNS) – Conservative Republican Rick Hall has officially announced his reelection campaign for Rutherford County Commissioner, District 3, and will run in the Republican Primary on May 5, 2026.
Hall was appointed in August 2025 to fill the unexpired term of retiring Commissioner Michael Wrather. “It’s been an honor to serve the people of District 3. I’m running for a full term because we need strong, steady leadership to protect taxpayer dollars, strengthen public safety, and make sure our county remains a great place to live and raise a family,” Hall stated.
Although newly appointed, Hall brings extensive experience to the role, having previously served on the Rutherford County Commission from 2006–2010, where he chaired the Property Management Committee and served on the Public Safety Committee.
In just five months back in office, Hall has demonstrated a strong command of county operations and shown consistent conservative leadership. For example, he has already been working with State leaders on the counties’ state prisoner reimbursement rate. “It costs $93 per day to house a prisoner in the Rutherford County jail. But the state only reimburses us $41 for State prisoners being housed in our jail. This has cost our county millions of dollars every year,” Hall said. As a member of the Public Safety Committee and Property Management Committee, he has and will play a pivotal role in planning for the future of the Sheriff’s Office, Fire & Rescue, and EMS. “We are currently in the planning stages of relocating and building a new jail, the possible relocation of our Emergency Management Agency and the Rutherford County Fire administration. I feel my skill set will help a tremendous amount with these issues,” Hall said.
A lifelong resident of Rutherford County, Hall grew up in Smyrna and attended Middle Tennessee State University. He served 25 years with the Smyrna Police Department, retiring as a Detective and earning multiple distinguished awards throughout his career. He has been a small business owner and is currently a Partner with the Raborn Insurance Agency, which has been a part of the Rutherford County Community for over 50 years. He and his wife, Stacie, live in the Florence community and enjoy trail riding with their horses and traveling.
In addition to his public service, Hall co-hosts a weekly radio program on WGNS, The Round Table Show with Rick and Wayne, co-hosted with his longtime friend Wayne Blair.
Hall is also an active community volunteer and currently serves on or has served on numerous boards, including:
• Smyrna Rotary Club (Member & Board Member)
• Smyrna Senior Citizens Center Campaign Fundraising Committee (Board Member)
• Smyrna Historical Preservation Association (Current President)
• Rutherford County Detention Center Board (Past Member)
• Rutherford County Industrial Development Board (Past Member)
• Volunteers with the Rutherford County Meals on Wheels delivering meals to the elderly
