Charles Charles & Milky Way Farms: Preserving History While Building the Future
Yesterday, I had the opportunity to have lunch with 94-year-old Charles Jones. Jones owns to Milky Way Farm. My office recognized him this week in the Tennessee General Assembly.

Jones lights up as he tells the story the Historic Milky Way Farm, a testament to American entrepreneurship and architectural grandeur. At the heart of its modern-day restoration stands Charles Jones, a visionary whose diverse talents and unwavering dedication have helped breathe new life into this iconic estate originally built by Mars Candies founder Franklin C. Mars.A Legacy of Multiple Talents
For six decades, Charles Jones has demonstrated an extraordinary ability to wear multiple hats with distinction and grace. His journey through various professional roles has been marked by innovation, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Whether as an entrepreneur launching new ventures, a developer bringing ambitious projects to life, or an educator sharing knowledge with future generations, Jones has consistently proven himself to be a renaissance man of the modern era.
Restoring the Milky Way Farm Legacy
Perhaps one of Jones’s most significant contributions has been his integral role in the restoration of the Historic Milky Way Farm. This massive undertaking required not just vision, but also a unique combination of skills that Jones had cultivated throughout his career. The estate, which once served as the grand residence of confectionery magnate Franklin C. Mars, has been carefully brought back to its former glory under Jones’s guidance.
The restoration project showcases Jones’s ability to:
– Maintain historical authenticity while incorporating modern amenities
– Manage complex rehabilitation projects involving multiple stakeholders
– Balance preservation needs with practical development considerations
– Create sustainable plans for the estate’s future use and maintenance
