According to the Daily News Journal State Rep. Mike Sparks questioned why Rutherford County has two school districts with growing costs during a Monday meeting with county officials.

“I bet Murfreesboro would sell you the school district for a dollar,” the
Smyrna Republican lawmaker said before mentioning that City Councilman
Eddie Smotherman was in the audience in the courtroom of the County

“Sold,” Smotherman jokingly said.


After the meeting between lawmakers and county commissioners, Smotherman said the council should study whether to give Murfreesboro City Schools, which earned an exemplary rating from the state to the larger county district. To read full article visit link:
