New Rutherford County School Board members discuss Challenges in District

By Danielle Ray, Murfreesboro Post

There are three new faces on the Rutherford County Schools Board of Education.

Caleb Tidwell, Katie Darby and Frances Rosales joined the board in August. They discussed with the Murfreesboro Post the reasons they got involved with the school board and challenges facing the district.

Caleb Tidwell

Tidwell was elected vice-chair in his first term on the board. He said he wants to create an environment where teachers feel appreciated after a couple of hard years during the pandemic. Tidwell said he hopes to make Rutherford County the district of preference for teachers looking for employment.

“We want to renew the lines of communication with and partner with our students’ parents to restore their faith in our local school board,” he said.

Tidwell said another goal of his for the district is to continue its focus on education rather than national politics.
