RUTHERFORD COUNTY, TN — Rutherford County Commissioner Anthony Johnson, a Conservative Republican and U.S. Army Veteran, has officially announced his candidacy for re-election to the Rutherford County Commission, District 11, in the 2026 Republican Primary.
Commissioner Johnson has represented District 11 with a steadfast commitment to fiscal responsibility, conservative values, and transparent governance, bringing military discipline and real-world leadership to county government.
“As a veteran, I learned the importance of duty, accountability, and putting others before myself,” Johnson said. “Those same principles guide my service on the County Commission. It has been the honor of my life to serve the people of District 11 and Rutherford County. Every day, I work to ensure that our community’s voice is heard on the issues that impact our quality of life, our environment, and our future.”

During his current term, Commissioner Johnson has been a vocal advocate for local control over solid waste management,
supporting Tennessee’s Jackson Law and standing with Murfreesboro in its legal efforts to ensure proper oversight of the Middle Point Landfill expansion proposal. Commissioner Johnson has focused on protecting taxpayers, supporting law enforcement and first responders, and promoting responsible growth while preserving the character of Rutherford County.
