Benefield, a shift captain at the Plainview Public Health and Safety Building, and his wife Harlee lost all their possessions and their dogs in the blaze. A smoke alarm saved Harlee’s life—she escaped wearing only the clothes she had on. “Our first responders face life-threatening situations every day,” A Facebook post stated. “Now, we have a chance to rally behind one of our own.“
