Dr. Cedric Oliver Gary, Indiana

Yesterday morning I was sitting there drinking my fourth cup of coffee, diving into some serious study time. And bam! I stumble upon a YouTube sermon by Dr. Cedric Oliver. I was impressed with his straight talk and thought this guy is the real deal. Dr. Oliver is the pastor and co-founder of Embassies of Christ Kingdom Ministries in Gary, Indiana.

I wasn’t alone in being impressed with his sermon—so were dozens of young black men who were commenting and sharing it on their YouTube channels.

Dr. Oliver’s sermon wasn’t your typical Sunday morning sermon. Nope, he was dishing out truth like a pro. Actually, some folks couldn’t handle it and walked right out of the church service. I guess they weren’t ready for Dr. Oliver’s no-nonsense style. He was just…as they say “Keepin’ it real.”

His sermon reminded me of former Tennessee State Representative John DeBerry. John is a man of strong faith and is a Church of Christ minister at Coleman Avenue Church of Christ in Memphis. When John would speak in the Tennessee General Assembly—everyone listens.

Dr. Oliver’s sermon left an impression on me. I’ve always had much respect for someone who’s willing to stand their ground, even if it means standing alone. Dr. Oliver wasn’t afraid to lose a few church members or even some friends. And you’ve got to give the guy credit—especially in times like these when speaking up seems to be a lost art. I’m seeing young women with more courage than men. Swimmer Riley Gaines and 16-year-old Hannah Faulkner—just to name a few

I decided to Google the church and give them a call and ask if they could send me a copy of the transcript of his sermon. I called the church and left a message for them to call me.

A few hours later I received a call from the church business manager, Scott Sloan and he informed me that Dr. Oliver had passed away. He died on January 22, 2023. I was deflated. I was hoping to get him on The Rutherford Magazine Radio Show (Sunday nights 5-6pm 100.5FM or online WGNSradio.com) and share some of his wisdom and insights with our listeners.

From the quick research I did, Dr. Cedric Oliver’s legacy won’t fade anytime soon. This guy was all about faith that stands strong and serving his community with heart and soul.

As I was speaking to Scott Sloan I asked him if he knew what happened to former Memphis lawmaker John DeBerry? He wasn’t aware. I shared with him the ‘nefarious’ cabal that the Tennessee Democrat Party devised to remove DeBerry for the ballot. Rep. DeBerry is pro-life and I would argue the closest leader which exemplified the example of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Webster defines cabal as the contrived schemes of a group of persons secretly united in a plot(as to overturn a government) also : a group engaged in such schemes.
It was a cabal that the Democrat Party performed on Rep. John DeBerry. I was sharing with Scott Sloan that even journalist Roland Martin even spoke up about it.

Sparks: DeBerry’s ouster proof of Democrats’ intolerance

Rep. John DeBerry, who was removed from the Memphis House District 90 primary ballot in 2020 by the Tennessee Democratic Party’s State Executive Committee. John was quoted as saying “My district has elected me 13 times,” DeBerry said after a House committee meeting. “Not just because I’m John DeBerry or because I’m a Democrat. But because they agree with what I fought for and what I stood for.”

…What the Tennessee Democrat Party did to John DeBerry was certainly ‘nefarious.’  The Marxist leftest democrats knew they couldn’t beat DeBerry at the ballot box—this the pulled of a cabal. Where are the investigative journalist that are always discussing race and disenfranchised voters yet they never seem to care to cover what happened to John DeBerry. But the ‘Good News’ is that after the Tennessee Democrat Party removed DeBerry from the ballot, Governor Bill Lee hired him. He’s now making $175,000 yearly and has much more influence. I’m reminded of the scripture in Genesis 50 verse 20 “You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.”

If anyone from the Tennessee Democrat Party would like to join me on my radio program you’re welcome to join me and let’s discuss what happened to John DeBerry.
