The legislative building that houses four State Representatives and two State Senators from Rutherford County was shut down on Thursday. Reports indicate the offices of The Cordell Hull Building were closed after Republican leadership reportedly received envelopes with a white powdery substance in each envelope. All six of the lawmakers who live in Murfreesboro and Smyrna are Republicans.
After the the envelopes were discovered on the 6th floor of the building, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, the FBI were called-in to investigate. Ken Jobe, Press Secretary for the Tennessee House Democratic Caucus told WGNS News…(see link below).
Reports indicate the letters were meant to send a threatening message to Republicans and some some of those Republicans suggested off record, “The threats came from Liberal Activist.”
