State Rep. Bryan Terry, MD, R-Murfreesboro, is seeking re-election to the 48th District of the Tennessee House of Representatives.
“As I’ve talked to folks in the community, people continue to want reputable, reliable and rational representation for them in Nashville,” Terry said.
“People aren’t interested in community protestors, propaganda and unproductive posturing particularly on social media. They have significant concerns about the harmful policies coming from the federal level and want real solutions and protections from these bad policies. Having a positive voice for our shared values is a priority. That is why I am running to continue to represent District 48.”

Terry, a physician and small business owner, was first elected in 2014 to represent House District 48, which includes the eastern half of Rutherford County. In the General Assembly, he serves as chairman of the Health Committee. He also serves on both the Insurance committees and is a member of the Calendar and Rules Committee.
A proven leader with an established conservative record, Terry has fought to improve our economy, education and health care while also working to address issues like the opioid crisis and Middle Point Landfill.
“As your state representative, I am committed to protecting our community, our values, our freedoms and our way of life,” stated Terry. “I want to ensure that Tennessee remains the best place to live, work and raise our families for generations to come.”
Terry has brought statewide attention to the problems that exist at Middle Point Landfill in Rutherford County. He has conducted extensive research into the issue, offered alternative solutions and provided consistent updates to the community. He has also passed legislation to help stop its proposed expansion and protect residents who live nearby.
Additionally, Terry secured $2.5 million in state funding this year to launch an alternative solid waste disposal pilot program in Rutherford and neighboring counties. 
The program will provide an alternative to a proposed expansion of the landfill while also serving as a possible statewide solution for future solid waste endeavors.
He has worked to keep Tennesseans safe by supporting Truth in Sentencing legislation to ensure violent criminals serve 100 percent of their sentences. Terry led efforts that uncovered more than $220 million in misspent state funds related to the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families program. He has also helped protect Tennesseans from attempted burdensome overreach by the federal government.
Terry has passed legislation to reform the TANF program to help Tennesseans move onto a pathway to prosperity; co-sponsored the Racial Profiling Prevention Act; and spearheaded improvements to the Rutherford County DMV service.
Terry has been recognized as Legislator of the Year, Taxpayer Hero, Family Champion and a Model Public Servant for his work.
He lives in Murfreesboro with his wife, Cheryl, and their two children, Brayden and Breeley. The family attends World Outreach Church.
