Authorities discover 2 bodies in burning vehicle after chase on I-24 in Coffee County

Authorities found two bodies in a burning vehicle along I-24 in Coffee County following a brief chase Wednesday.

According to Fox 17 News, Dane Fearron, 19, of New York, is now charged with two counts of vehicular homicide in connection to the pursuit.

District Attorney Craig Northcott tells FOX 17 News a vehicle was spotted by the Tennessee Highway Patrol driving past the weigh station on I-24 at over 90 mph. Troopers activated their emergency lights and sirens to try to stop the vehicle.

Officials say before THP was able to overtake the vehicle, the driver, identified as Fearron, lost control and crashed near mile marker 120.

According to DA Northcott, Fearron bolted out of the vehicle and led authorities on a short foot pursuit. All of this while the vehicle is engulfed in flames.

After extinguishing the blaze, investigators discovered two bodies in the vehicle, one in the front passenger seat and the other in the back passenger area. Their identities have not yet been released.

Meanwhile, Fearron was taken to Unity Hospital and treated for minor injuries. Upon his release, he was arrested and booked into the Coffee County Jail.

DA Northcott says the matter is still under investigation and additional charges may be filed.
