For the last 38 years, Jed DeKalb has traveled from the Smoky Mountains to Memphis, chronicling history — all with exclusive, behind-the-scenes access.

The tall, affable 66-year-old has taken hundreds of thousands of photographs, capturing images for the last five governors, beginning with Lamar Alexander on through Ned McWherter, Don Sundquist, Phil Bredesen and Bill Haslam.

And when Haslam hands off the keys to state government to his successor, Gov.-elect Bill Lee, on Jan. 19, DeKalb will be there taking a photographs for the state one last time.
